July 1^st Don Durham of Denton, NC joined The Columbia Partnership as a Ministry Associate concentrating on  

Developing Resources. Don is now available to assist congregations with capital campaigns, planned giving, and annual giving as part of the Developing Resources Team with TCP.

Don desires to help “congregations do healthy work to raise the resources they need to do the work they believe God has called them to do, and to be the generous believers God has called them to be.” He feels he can best do this through The Columbia Partnership as part of the Developing Resources team led by Ruben Swint, a Ministry Partner and board member with TCP.

Interruptive Crises in Congregations

Congregations can experience various types of crises. One type is interruptive crises. This is a brief survey to gain your perspective on the interruptive crises experienced by congregations in North America. Thank you, in advance, for the time you will spend responding to this survey. [ NOTE: This survey is intended only for persons currently serving as a pastor or on the staff of a Christian congregation.]

Interruptive Crises in Congregations Survey

During February 2010 The Columbia Partnership conducted a survey seeking information on interruptive crises in congregations. The detailed results have been turned over to a person who is writing a book on this subject. He will begin contacting people who completed the survey and volunteered to be contacted for more information and dialogue.

The survey has also been reopened to allow additional people to participate. If you are a pastor or staff person with a Christian congregation, you may take the survey by clicking on the link above. We ask that laypersons or people who serve in ministry outside a local congregation not to participate in this survey.

Oh, by the way, the top four interruptive crises the February 2010 survey participants see happening in North American congregations are,

• Severe budget shortfall
• Personnel separation [forced downsizing, abrupt resignation]
• Sexual misconduct
• Community crisis [health scare, loss of major employer]

July 1^st Ann Updegraff Spleth of Indianapolis, IN joined The Columbia Partnership as a Ministry Associate concentrating in Developing Resources and Transforming Congregations.

Ann is now available to assist congregations with capital campaigns, planned giving, and annual giving as part of the Developing Resources Team with TCP. She is also focusing on leading the Spiritual Strategic Journey congregation strategic planning process as a member of the Transforming Congregations Team. While these particular areas are her focus, Ann brings a wide variety of experiences to her relationship with The Columbia Partnership.
